I lived in the States for a couple of years
and I know how hard and frustrating it is not to be able to communicate
with your family whenever you want to.
I've tried almost every cellphone provider in the U.S. - T-Mobile, Verizon, Cingular, Sprint, Metro PCS, you name it. And while most of them have great features and packages, they're all geared towards the American market. And budget.
If your family from the Philippines tries to text you, that's where the problem starts. Incompatible networks, delayed transmissions, not to mention the per-text fee of Php 15.00!
Buying load from the Filipino stores is also a hassle most of the time. For one, they usually open at 9 am, but you have to be in
the office by 8am. And they're usually out of the way.
But the worst thing is that these stores overprice their merchandise by as much as 100%, so it's not uncommon to find them selling
a 500-peso load for $25! Talk about taking advantage! They know that you've got no other choice if you want to talk to your family.
